Carbon steel is widely used in the petroleum industry. Corrosion of this steel is commonly observeddue to various factors. The use of corrosion inhibitors makes it possible to effectively control thisprocess. In this work, the corrosion rate (CR) and inhibition efficiency (IE) of benzotriazole weredetermined by the weight loss method at various inhibitor dosage levels and test times at a constanttemperature of ۳۰ °C in ۱ molar HCl. Experimental data was used based on response surfacemethodology (RSM) and new models were developed to predict CR and IE. The data predicted by thedeveloped models were in good agreement with the experimental data. At the same time, both CR andIE increased with increasing test time. In addition, the optimization of the corrosion process wascompleted. The results showed that the optimal values for the inhibitor dosage and test time are ۱۵۰ppm and ۳۵ hours. Under these conditions, the lowest CR and highest IE were ۱.۴۲۵ mm/y and ۸۵.۴۷۱%.
