Nowadays with the advent of energy crisis and the increasing of environmental damage, a strategy is required to deliver both energy and climate security without compromising economic growth. As a result, people are paying more attention to wind power because of its advantages. In this paper, the effect of drive train tilt angle and rotor blade cone angle on NREL ۵ MW baseline wind turbine loads are studied using FAST software. Aerodynamic loads are calculated based on blade element momentum (BEM) theory and applied to multibody dynamic system that represents the wind turbine model. The loads applied to different components in a range of wind speed between ۴ to ۲۲ m/s are calculated in three cone angles (۰̊, ۲.۵̊ and, ۵̊) and three tilt angles (۳̊, ۵̊ and, ۷̊) and the extreme loads are computed. The results show that a small deviation in tilt and cone angles could significantly affect the loads in all the components of the wind turbine. Therefor, controlling these parameters can effectively decrease wind turbine loads and improve its fatigue life which leads to reduce the construction cost.
