Evaluation of nitrate in cabbage and carrot vegetables: asystematic review and meta-analysis

چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objectives: The high level of nitrate in various vegetables is a highly importantissue that poses a potential hazard to human health. This study evaluates the nitrate concentration indifferent vegetables .Methods: All published studies until September ۲۰۲۰ were examined in PubMed, Scopus, and Webof Science databases. The heterogeneity degree among the studies was appraised by I۲ heterogeneitystatistic. The random-effects model was utilized to arrange the supplied concentration in subgroupsincluding the continent and variety of vegetables .Results: The nitrate concentration in the studied vegetables indicated nitrate content in cabbage washigher than carrot. Depending on the continents, highest and lowest nitrate in cabbage vegetableswere attributed to America and Africa, respectively, and also in regarding spinach vegetables wereattributed to Africa and Australia, respectively .Conclusion: Findings of this study showed that nitrate concentration varies in different countries.Results of this meta-analysis can be helpful in various risk manipulation models and beneficial tohealth policy design for farmers and industries for decreasing concentration of nitrate in differentvegetables.
