Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) is a technique to establish the interrelationships betweenelements of interest in a specific domain through experts' knowledge of the context of theelements.Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) is a computer-based technique for helping small groupsdevelop graphical representations of complex systems.Several applications of ISM are described and from these experiences some observations aremade about the nature and effectiveness of the ISM process and product. ISM was found toprovide its users with a systematic and comprehensive method for integrating group judgmentsin the development of “first-cut ‘structural models. At the same time, however, the techniquewas found to be relatively inflexible and may, in some instances, inhibit group processes.Possible directions for the development of fewer rigid methods are suggested.Interpretive structural modelling (ISM) is a well-established methodology for identifyingrelationships among specific items, which define a problem or an issue. This approach has beenincreasingly used by various researchers to represent the interrelationships among variouselements related to the issue. ISM approach starts with an identification of variables, which arerelevant to the problem or issue. Then a contextually relevant subordinate relation is chosen.Having decided the contextual. In this paper, key concept of ISM approach is discussed in detail.
