چکیده مقاله:
Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death in children under the age of ۱۴. By administering conventional techniques of drug delivery syscancer therapy (e.g., chemotherapy), many survivors notice a decrease in their general quality of life and chemo long-term side effects. Hence, there is a critical unmet need to create therapeutic strategies specifically for cancer in pediatrics. Nano-based tem is an emerging and critical strategy toovercome pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic issues of drugs such as decreased stability, insufficient bioavailability and low aqueous solubility. This approach also benefits in minimizing toxicity and obtaining a prolonged release which leads in lower effective therapeutic dosage and therefore fewer side effects. A systematized review was performed from searching in Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed databases utilizing the combination of keywords “nano* AND pediatric And cancer”. Designing nanoparticles that can differentiate between alignant and healthy cells is essential because current chemotherapy treatments are not capable of doing so. Recently, particular ligands have been bound to cancer cells by utilizing nanomaterials. Carbon Nanotubes, Quantum Dots, lectins, ligands, Micelles and Liposomes can be used for targeting cancerous cells. The application of metal nanoparticles such as zinc oxide, gold(Au) and silver(Ag) nanoparticles is another innovative approach for treatment of cancer. Recent advances in nanotechnology offers a new prospect to develop novel formulations in ediatric cancer therapy. There is no doubt that additional research is required for nanoparticles to be used more widely in order to develop more efficient reatments for pediatric cancers.
