Job burnout of nurses and factors affecting it: A Review Study

چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and objective: One of the most important challenges worldwide for nurses is burnout. Burnout is a three-item syndrome that includes emotional breakdown,depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment. Job burnout in nurses is associated with many problems, among these problems, we can mention a decrease in performance, a decrease in physical and mental health, and a decrease in patients' satisfaction with nursing care. Considering that nurses are one of the most important members of the healthcare team and spend many hours with patients and are under a lot of stress, they are very susceptible to burnout. Therefore, in this review study, we will discuss the factors affecting job burnout.Methods: To conduct this study, search for articles from ۲۰۰۰ to ۲۰۲۲ with Persian keywords and equivalents such as job burnout, nurses, hospital, job stress, resilience in databases. PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Sid, Magiran, Google Scholar was done. Finally, according to criteria such as the availability of the full text of the article, being in Persian and English, related studies were selected and analyzed.Results: The results of the studies indicated that nurses are very susceptible to burnout and various factors play a role in the occurrence of this syndrome. Among these factors, we can mention job satisfaction, spiritual health, mental health, job security, stress, anxiety and job resilience.Conclusion: The incidence of burnout in nurses has significant statistics, considering the negative effects that this syndrome has on nurses and their performance, so it is necessary for nursing officials and managers to pay more attention to this issue and take measures to reduce this problem for nurses.
