چکیده مقاله:
Introduction & Objective: COVID-۱۹ is an infectious disease of the respiratory system caused by the SARS-CoV-۲. Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory properties and strengthens the function of immune system cells. Therefore, the current study was designend with the aim of investigating the relationship between vitamin D levels and the risk of COVID-۱۹ infection. Methods: The present study was a summary review study designed in ۲۰۲۲. To search for similar articles, valid scientific databases such as PubMed / Medline, Scopus and ISI (Web of Sciences) were used. Selected keywords according to the MeSH guidelines included "COVID-۱۹", " SARS-COV-۲", " Vitamin D " and " infection ", which were searched using the AND-OR operators. Initially, ۲۸ articles were retrieved, and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ۱۸ articles were extracted. Inclusion criteria included the availability of the full text of the article, Latinness of the article and exclusion criteria also included: abstracts of papers presented at congresses and conferences. Results: By reviewing various studies, it was found that people who have a vitamin D deficiency are at a higher risk of contracting a COVID-۱۹ infection compared to people who have enough vitamin D. These studies have shown that the lack of serum ۲۵ (OH) Vitamin-D increases the risk of COVID-۱۹ infection and its mortality. It is also known that vitamin D increases protective effects and increases the function of immune system cells. However, in few studies, it has been stated that there is no significant relationship between the level of vitamin D and the risk of COVID-۱۹ infection. Conclusion: Various studies have shown that increasing the level of vitamin D can reduce the risk of COVID-۱۹ infection and the resulting mortality. Since there is no definitive treatment for it, it can reduce the risk of infection of this disease with preventive actions. Therefore, vitamin D levels can be increased by taking vitamin D supplements, having a diet rich in vitamin D, and being exposed to enough sunlight.
