The Place of Flexible Architectural Design in Contemporary Housing in Order to Improve the Sense of Belonging of the Residents

Today, the residential unit requires functional changes to respond to people's needs. Since the needs of human life are constantly changing, their living environment should be changed as much as possible according to the conditions and needs. Flexible architecture is a type of architecture that meets the needs of residents in different conditions and in contemporary housing, it has provided the possibility of changing the interior spaces for residents. In other words, flexible housing eliminates space and function limitations for residents and makes the environment adaptable and versatile. Therefore, this article aims to create awareness and develop flexible architecture in housing design so that in addition to meeting the needs of residents at different times, their sense of belonging in their place of residence is also enhanced. In line with the purpose of the research, by using the descriptive method and library studies, research information has been collected and presented. The results of the research show that flexible architectural design improves the quality of housing and, as a result, improves the sense of belonging of the residents.
