Evaluation of corona vaccine on breast milk and infant safety- narrative review

Background: corona vaccine can affect on breast milk. Vaccinated breast milk contains antibodies against covid-۱۹ that help protect infants against this disease and make babies immune to covid-۱۹ until the age of ۶ months. Objective: This study was performed the effect of vaccination against covid-۱۹ on the safety of breast milk.Materials and Methods: This Narrative Review reviews the search engines and databases of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochran, Google Scholar, SID, Magiran, Noormags, Irandoc, Elmnet in English and Persian with the keywords covid-۱۹ and "Milk, Human", vaccination, mother, "Infant", "Randomized Controlled Trial" selected by MeSH and their Persian equivalents, from ۱۵ to ۱۹ ۲۰۲۳. Published articles were limited to the years ۲۰۱۹ and later. From ۷۱۳ obtained articles, the full text of ۱۴ articles used for writing this article. Results: most studies have been shown the safety of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Both of theme are messenger type(mRNA). Johnson & Johnson vaccine is only available as an alternative. It is now approved. Conclusions: Well-designed large-scale studies are needed to more accurately and reliably evaluate for other vaccines and new strains.
