چکیده مقاله:

We can never predict when someone will fall in love since love is a phenomenon—constantlysaying that it is an unconscious process beyond the domain of reason and logic and that wecannot think about it or justify it away. The principal argument of this study is to prove that thespeaker of the poem still feels the presence of his primal father in his life. He always wants tofill this void with love, but this love is merely a substitute for his loss. His symbolic castrationreveals that he is living a fantasy. The speaker believes the woman gives him pleasure, but hedeceives himself with the object a. In conclusion, as an obsessive person, the speaker acceptsthat there must be third terms and limitations in life to make a connection between him and hisbeloved, and love for him is impossible.
