Leukemia and the treatment through stem cells

This days, stem cells have many applications in the field of research and treatment of diseases and are used as an effective factor and treatment in curing diseases. Since stem cells have the ability of the self-renewal and differentiation, they can be used to repair the tissues and damaged cells that they were damaged through diseases such as hematologic and non-hematological malignancies.In fact, stem cell is a cell therapy approach to restore damaged cells, tissues, and organs.One of the diseases in which stem cells play a significant role in the treatment process is leukemia. Leukemia is a heterogeneous group of hematologic malignancies that arise from the dysfunctional proliferation of developing leukocytes. It is classified as either acute or chronic based on the rapidity of proliferation and as myelocytic or lymphocytic based on the cell of origin.Treatment of this disease according to different types of leukemia is evaluated and carried out by stem cells.In this article, the role of different types of stem cells in transplantation, as well as the examination of different types of leukemia in order to treat this disease by using stem cell transplantation, have been discussed.Method:In this review article, databases include pub med, Springer, Google Scholar, and Science direct, SID, and keywords like Treatment of Leukemia, stem cells, ... were used for collecting the articles. I reviewed all articles since ۲۰۱۵ and removed those that were not relevant to the study domain from the study process.
