چکیده مقاله:
The spread of HIV is partly due to the nutritional part of the disease. Weakness leads to moreattacks of infection. The progress of the disease in the human body leads to stimulation of theimmune system and an increase in oxidative stress, followed by a decrease in the level of bloodplasma antioxidants. Oxidative stress is an imbalance between the oxidant and antioxidantsystems in the body. Observations suggest that oxidative stress may play a role in different stagesof the viral life cycle.Material and methodArticles and information from ۲۰۱۸ to ۲۰۲۲ were searched using the keywords of HIV,Oxidative stress, and Selenium in scientific databases like PubMed, NCBI, and Google Scholar.ResultThe results of the investigations confirmed that the lack of a type of nutrient called selenium inHIV-infected people leads to death. This deficiency is related to the increase in the pathogenicityof the virus, the reduction of cytokine cells and natural killer cells, the increase in the risk ofmycobacterial diseases, and finally, the progression of HIV disease. Selenium deficiency leads toa decrease in the activity of glutathione peroxidase as a large antioxidant system, which itselfleads to a decrease in the level of free radicals and as a result, a decrease in HIV replication and adecrease in the death of CD۴ lymphocytes cells. Therefore, with decreasing seleniumconcentration, oxidative stress increases. This deficiency leads to the multiplication of HIV andacceleration in the death of CD۴ lymphocyte cells.ConclusionExacerbation of symptoms in HIV patients is directly related to a lack of nutrients such asselenium. Selenium deficiency leads to an increase in oxidative stress and finally the death ofimmune cells, as a result of which the proliferation of the virus and the spread of inflammationwill increase.
