Background: Smokeless tobacco conveys the notion that it produces less of the substance thancigarettes and is believed by some to be safer than other tobacco products. This study wasconducted with the aim of reviewing the adverse effects of smokeless tobacco on the digestivesystem.Method: The current study is a systematic review that was conducted by searching scientific sitessuch as SID, Pubmed, Magiran and Google Scholar search engine with keywords: smokelesstobacco, cigarette, tobacco, digestive system, mouth, teeth, throat, esophagus, stomach , intestineand body, was carried out in the years ۲۰۱۸ to ۲۰۲۲. A total of ۲۰ articles were reviewedaccording to the inclusion criteria.Results: Tobacco increases the risk of various diseases including gastrointestinal cancers andrelated diseases. Also, areas of the mouth and throat are more at risk. According to a review of thematerials, there is a significant positive relationship between the use of smokeless tobacco andcancers of different parts of the digestive system, mouth, esophagus, and pancreas.Conclusion: Smokeless tobacco is directly related to the increased risk of various diseases of theupper gastrointestinal tract. This substance increases the risk of cancers of the mouth, gums, teeth,pharynx, esophagus, and stomach. Strategy methods to combat the use of this type of tobaccoshould be designed and implemented by the Authorities.
