چکیده مقاله:
Background: The ever-increasing spread of cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary arteries, has turned the eyes of many researchers towards the discovery of factors that can predict thefactors related to these diseases. So, considering the consumption of various types of smoking, especially opium and hookah in addition to cigarettes in our region and the increasing tendency ofyoung people to use hookah as a recreation, the present study aimed to evaluate the correlationbetween smoking with the intensity and number of vessels involved in angiography of patientswith acute coronary syndrome referred to Shahid Mohammadi Hospital, Bandar Abbas, ۲۰۲۲.Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical study that was conducted on ۱۵۲ patientswith acute coronary syndrome who underwent coronary angiography. In this study, demographicinformation, laboratory findings, and information related to the severity and number of coronaryarteries involved were collected using their clinical records and angiography CDs based onSYNTAX score, and using independent ttests, Pearson"s, Spearman"s, and ANOVA statisticaltests. The relationship between the number and severity of vessels involved in angiography ofpatients with demographic characteristics, lipid and inflammatory indices and smoking wasinvestigated. Results: The results of this study have shown that despite the absence of a relationship betweenthe number and severity of coronary artery involvement was not significant in terms of thevariables such as age, gender, having a history of underlying disease in the patient, having ahistory of heart disease in the patient"s family, type of used drug, duration of smoking, triglyceride, and cholesterol, while A statistically significant correlation was observed between thefrequency of consumption per day and the number of involved vessels (P=۰.۰۱). On the otherhand, the inverse relationship between HDL and the direct relationship between CRP was alsoconfirmed in this study. LDL was not related to the severity of coronary artery involvement, but itwas directly related to the number of vessels. Conclusion: Based of the present result, it can be concluded that the number and severity of theinvolved vessels are independent of type, duration, and frequency of using smoking in day, and also demographic characteraises of people while lipid and inflamantation factors were effectivefactors.
