The role of social support in frustration tolerance of pregnant women withdrug abuse in the referral center of southwestern Iran in ۲۰۲۱

Background: Women experience a stressful life with drug abuse and need more support fromfamily and society. If they do not receive the necessary support, they will be stuck in the cycle ofaddiction and it will be difficult for them to bear failures. The present study was conducted withthe aim of determining the role of social support in coping with the frustration tolerance ofpregnant women with substance abuse who referred to Hazrat Zainab Hospital in Shiraz in ۱۴۰۰.Methods: The current research was a descriptive-cross-sectional study and the statisticalpopulation of all pregnant women with substance abuse referred to different departments of HazratZainab Hospital in Shiraz. ۲۰۰ people were included in the study by continuous sampling. Whilerespecting the privacy and confidentiality of information, demographic questionnaires, VAX socialsupport and Harrington"s failure tolerance were completed. Sampling continued from Mehr toEsfand ۱۴۰۰. Data analysis was done with SPSS ۲۲ software with descriptive and analyticalstatistics tests of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, Pearson correlationcoefficient and multiple regressions.Results: The average social support score of pregnant women with substance abuse was ۵۳.۴ ±۲.۳۲, which indicates unfavorable social support. Social support in the support of friendsdimension had the highest mean (۲.۴۴ ± ۰.۹۱) and the support of community members had thelowest mean (۲.۲۴ ± ۰.۶۴). Social support was more in wives and husbands with middle and highereducation levels. The mean frustration tolerance score was ۱۳۶.۷۳±۲۲.۵, and frustration tolerancewas inversely correlated with social support (P=۰.۰۱۲) in the dimension of not tolerating stress,not tolerating discomfort, and not tolerating injustice and dissatisfaction.Conclusion: The social support of the family and society in pregnant women with substance abusewas not favorable and these women received their support more from friends, and they could nottolerate failure and stress. Holding programs of empowerment and foundation in the society canhelp improve the health of the future generation.
