The term "well control" refers to all measures taken to prevent subsurface flow. A blowout is an uncontrolled releaseof formation fluids to the surface. A sudden influx of formation fluids into a borehole is referred to as a "kick." A kickcan occur during drilling or workover operations and quickly escalate into a blowout, causing damage to equipmentand natural resources. This study discusses the challenges involved in drilling operations in the oil and gas industry, specifically focusing on well control. The study examines pressure changes that occur during well control using theengineer's method (the wait and weight method). The aim of this article is to use the drilling simulator and landmarksoftware to simulate different scenarios with varying kick sizes and slow circulating rates (kick sizes of ۸, ۱۵, and ۲۰bbl, respectively, and two slow circulating rates of ۳۰ SPM and ۴۰ SPM). The results showed that the size of the kickand the circulating rate have a significant impact on pressure levels, with larger kicks resulting in higher pressureprofiles. The time it takes to completely kill the well is affected by the different circulating rates. The findingsemphasize the importance of proper kick management to safely remove gas kicks from the wellbore.
