The influence of engineering modification on improving wastewater treatment efficiency in dairy industries and reducing urban environmental pollution (Case study of a dairy factory situated in Tehran, ۲۰۲۲)

چکیده مقاله:
The dairy industry has rapidly grown in Iran due to the recent establishment of dairy factories, as a result of which the associated environmental problems have also exacerbated and are soon to become serious environmental threats given their environmental and water resource pollutions. The wastewater discharged from dairy industries is rich in sugar, protein, and organic fat. Conducted through laboratory research, the present study sought to establish a retention pond and examine its influence on enhancing the efficiency of the treatment plant and quality of the treated effluents to improve the fairy company treatment plant’s performance. Samples were taken from the effluents discharged from the treatment plant before and after modification, and the efficiency of the treatment plant in the removal of parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TDS, TSS, Turbidity, and EC was investigated. All sampling and test stages were performed based on the water and sewage sampling instructions, and the acquired data underwent statistical analysis in Excel. Comparison of the results on the aforementioned qualitative parameters indicated that engineering modification of the treatment plant structure made significant improvement to the efficiency of the treatment plant and solved the environmental pollution problems once and for all.
