چکیده مقاله:

Isfahan, an Iranian city, is home to the wonderful structure called Monar Jonban or MenarJonban, that is constructed about seven centuries ago. This building's distinctive feature isthat anyone can enter one of the minarets and shake it with their own two hands. This willcause the minarets to shake without causing any damage to them. In this paper, bypresenting the equation of motion of the structure and a numerical study, the mechanismof vibration phenomenon in minarets of Monar Jonban is investigated. According to theresult, the same phenomenon may happen in all similar structures depending on theheight and diameter of the minarets, or in other words, depending on the mass, dampingcoefficient, and stiffness of the minarets. The difference between the structure comparedto others is that the diameter and height of the minarets of Monar Jonban are specifiedsuch that they vibrate visibly due to human forces but remain in elastic range even undermore critical loads such as wind and earthquakes.
