چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Obesity/overweight is a growing global disorder associated with an increased incidence of blood pressure. According to the evidence, yoga has a positive effect on the blood pressure of overweight people. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of a selected cyclic yoga training on blood pressure in overweight middle-aged women. Methods: ۴۲ middle-aged female with a mean aged ۴۰ to ۶۰ years were purposefully selected and randomly assigned to a cyclic yoga group (n=۲۱, ۵۳/۷۶±۴/۰۷۳ years) or a control group (n=۲۱, ۵۳/۵۷±۴/۷۸۱ years). The exercise group received cyclic yoga training for ۱۰ weeks, ۳ sessions per week and ۵۰-۹۰ minutes per session. Blood pressure was measured using the Omron digital sphygmomanometer (made in Japan). Data using one-way ANOVA for group comparison and dependent T-Test for in-group comparison were analyzed in SPSS v.۲۴ software.Result: systolic and diastolic blood pressure variables decreased in the cyclic yoga group significantly (p ≤۰.۰۵). Systolic blood pressure variable increased in control group significantly (p ≤۰.۰۵). But, diastolic blood pressure variable there was no significant change in the control group (p>۰.۰۵).Conclusion: Cyclic yoga exercises as an effective and cost-effective treatment lead to improvement of blood pressure in overweight women.
