چکیده مقاله:

The aim of this study, was to compare blood indices of Green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) on the northern shores of the Persian Gulf in Iran. The experimental sea turtles (green and Hawksbill turtles) individuals were haphazardly selected, assuming to provide a representative distribution of size classes was determined and curved carapace length (CCL), and width (CCW) were measured after nesting was concluded. After biometric measurements, blood samples were taken from the dorsal cervical sinus using a sterile plastic syringe and then blood samples were used to measure WBC, RBC, HB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, Heterophils, Lymphocyte, Monocyte, Eosinophils, AST, ALP, Cholesterol, Total protein, Glucose, Cortisol. According to the results, According to the results of this study, CCL and CCW Hawksbill sea turtles were higher than Green turtles, while blood indicators in green turtles were higher than Hawksbill turtles , and a significant correlation was observed between some morphometric in dicators (CCL and CCW) and blood indicators; so that Hawksbill sea turtles with larger CCL and CCW sizes had lower blood count values. Overall, discussion about blood parameters differences provide a complete assessment and clinical diagnosis of sea turtles; and can contribute to the development of appropriate management for the conservation of Chelonia mydas and Eretmochelys imbricata in northern shores of the Persian Gulf in Iran.
