The effect of annealing treatment on thermoelectric properties of nanostructured Bi۰.۵Sb۱.۵Te۳ thin films fabricated byHydrothermal method and thermal evaporation

Bismuth antimony telluride (Bi۰.۵Sb۱.۵Te۳) is one of the best-known thermoelectric compounds. Thepowder of Bi۰.۵Sb۱.۵Te۳ was hydrothermally synthesized for ۲۴ hours at ۱۵۰°C. Thermal evaporationwas used to deposit Bi۰.۵Sb۱.۵Te۳ thin films. Subsequently, annealing treatment was performed on oneof the thin films at ۳۷۳ K for ۱ h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electronmicroscopy (FESEM) and PSA (particle size analysis) were used to investigate powders and thin films.The phase and microstructure results of the synthesized powders showed that Bi۰.۵Sb۱.۵Te۳ powder wasformed. Thermoelectric results demonstrated that annealing of thin films causes increasing of theSeebeck coefficient from۱۹۵ to ۳۷۳ μV/K at ۳۲۳ K. However, the power factor of the annealed thinfilms was measured as ۰.۰۶*۱۰-۶ μW/k۲.cm in comparison to that of the unannealed thin films whichwas measured as ۰.۱*۱۰-۶ μW/k۲.cm at ۳۲۳ K.
