چکیده مقاله:
A severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus ۲ (SARS-CoV-۲) pandemic has the potential to aggravate some other illnesses due to its stressful nature. In the absence of adequate studies, it is unclear whether the adverse effects of Coronavirus disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) can be attributed to patients who may have a history of audiovestibular disorders. This study describes a case of SARS-CoV-۲, a ۲۶-year-old male diagnosed with Ménière's disease and related clinical manifestations as rare complications associated with COVID-۱۹ infection. The diagnosis of COVID-۱۹ infection was based mainly on the typical clinical symptoms developed during an era when the disease was spreading at a high rate. Ménière's disease was diagnosed based on the clinical signs and confirmed with paraclinical tests, such as pure tone audiometry (PTA), speech discrimination score (SDS), and tympanometry. Furthermore, increment sensitivity index (SISI) scoring, Videonystagmography (VNG), vestibular habituation training (VHT) test, and electrocochleography were utilized to exclude other possible differential diagnoses, assess the status of hearing impairment, and develop a treatment plan. Studies have indicated an increasing trend in new cases of Ménière's disease throughout the COVID-۱۹ pandemic.Furthermore, medical doctors have higher scores on the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) scores and experience more episodes of vertigo. These findings might correlate with the anxiety state observed in COVID-۱۹. Therefore, anxiety should be addressed with increased caution in cases of SARS-Cov-۲ and should be carefully evaluated in patients with clinical anxiety-related clinical symptoms.
