چکیده مقاله:
The quality of human life is directly influenced by how water resources are planned and managed. A great part of water resources is consumed for agriculture, and irrigation and drainage networks play a significant role in their optimum use. The present study used water resources planning and assessment model (WEAP) to analyze different water demands, water management and planning policies, agriculture development, and more reservoir capacity of Pishin Dam in Southern Balochistan Region, Iran. The water management and planning policies were simulated in seven scenarios for the period of ۲۰۱۵-۲۰۳۵. The results revealed that under the current conditions, the water need of all demand sectors is not fully met and its satisfaction requires the application of water management and planning policies by the government. Furthermore, the increase in the capacity of Pishin Dam was explored to develop the agriculture land by ۳۵,۰۰۰, ۳۸,۰۰۰ and ۴۰,۰۰۰ ha. It was revealed that the development of the agriculture lands by ۳۵,۰۰۰ ha resulted in the satisfaction of the water need of all sectors, but when they were developed by ۳۸,۰۰۰ and ۴۰,۰۰۰ ha, the water demands of all sectors were not fully met, whilst they could be met by resorting to management strategies. This paper fulfilled the governmental management policies including the improvement of irrigation efficiency, the inhibition of water loss, the use of water desalination device, and their combinations.
