چکیده مقاله:

Space is known as the essence of architecture, which in Iran's Qajar house architecture can be divided into three categories: closed space, open space, and intermediate space (porch). Among the three spaces that shape architecture, the intermediate space has a special place compared to open and closed spaces. In fact, it has characteristics that can be distinguished from the two mentioned spaces. On the other hand, the aim of this research is to study the intermediate space and the relationship between the observer's view of the open space and the closed space of Qajar historical houses in the city of Qazvin, in order to reveal the role of the intermediate space in creating this connection. The first step in the research method is the survey of written and digital sources that talk about space. In the last step, a field visit to the historical houses of the Qajar period of Qazvin will be conducted. Then it is read and analyzed with the two axes of the observer's view and the intermediate space the houses under study. The obtained result shows that the intermediate space is a kind of integration of two open spaces and a closed space, which has the characteristics of the mentioned two spaces. Also, the observer can be placed in various angles in front of the architecture of the facade, and the greater this angle is, the less his control is; The creation of an intermediate space in the architecture of the middle courtyard helps to shading, control the space and privacy of the closed space. In the end, the intermediate space provides a suitable living space for the residents of the house.
