The effect of different solvents on the dispersion quality of MWCNTFe۳O۴ hybrid nanofillers in nanocomposites

The dispersion quality of nanofillers in nanocomposites has an important effect on improving the mechanicalproperties of polymers. In this research, the reinforced polymeric composite specimens made of epoxy and MWCNTFe۳O۴were fabricated using three different organic solvents including acetone, ethanol, and Tetrahydrofuran (THF). Formanufacturing the nanocomposite samples, ۰.۶ wt% of hybrid MWCNT- Fe۳O۴ nanofillers were used. The tensilestrength of nanocomposites was obtained from a tensile test using a bulk dumbbell-shaped specimen according to ASTMD۶۳۸. Moreover, the dispersion of hybrid nanoparticles with different solvents in epoxy resin was evaluated usingscanning electron microscopic (SEM). The results showed a significant improvement in the tensile strength anddistribution of nanofillers compared to the nanocomposites made without solvents.
