چکیده مقاله:

Background and aim: Meteorin like-peptides (Metrnl) as one the adipomyokine exerts various beneficial effects such as involvement in the energy hemostasis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between serum levels of Metrnl with anthropometric measurements and body composition analysis in obese type ۲ diabetic patients.Materials and method: This analytical cross-sectional study was carried out on ۹۳ people (n=۳۲ obese diabetic patients, n=۳۱ healthy obese, n= ۳۰ healthy normal weight) between August ۲۰۲۰ and March ۲۰۲۱. Serum Metrnl level was measured by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a commercial kit. Body composition was assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis. The anthropometric measurements were measured in fasting stats. P-value less than ۰.۰۵ was considered as the significance level. Results: Serum Metrnl level of obese diabetic patients was lower than healthy normal weight group (۸۲.۵ (۷۲.۴-۹۴.۵) ng/mL compared to ۱۵۴.۲ (۱۲۹.۲-۱۸۹.۹) ng/mL). There was a significant difference between groups about Metrnl level (p<۰.۰۰۱). There was a negative significant correlation between serum Metrnl level and anthropometric measurements and body composition (p<۰.۰۵) with an exception fat-free mass and skeletal muscle mass. Conclusion: Future studies are needed to highlight the factors influencing the serum level of Metrnl as potential therapeutic factors in the control of abnormities in diabetic patients.
