Background and aim: occupational therapy have a responsibility to address preventable deconditioning and related side-effects for acute care patients. The optimal recovery of the nervous function requires OT to provide the integration of novel and challenging occupations beyond strengthening or exercises. The findings suggest that OT have positive in acute care settings. Due to the unique roles of OT in acute care, the evidence available on the Iranian acute OT is limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was the investigate of impact of OT interventions on performance and satisfaction of patients in acute care settingsMaterials and method: A pre-post study was conducted on people with neurological disorders at Rasool akram hospital and evaluate the efficacy of OT interventions on the performance and satisfaction. Canadian Occupational Performance Mesurement (COPM) was applied to evaluate performance and satisfaction at the time of admission and discharge.Results: Eight patients with neurological disorders including ۲ MS, ۲ Parkinson, ۳ strok and ۱ head injury participated in this study. The effect of changes in performance and satisfaction scores before and after interventions was significant(<.۰۰۱).Conclusion: Findings from this study showed effective role of occupational therapy in acute care. OT can help hospitals reduce readmission rates by lessening patients’ risk of further or future injury and acute care OT will improve performance and satisfaction level among the admitted patients.
