The importance of preventing the death and disability of premature infants

Background and aim: Today, due to reduced desire for pregnancy and reduced fertility, preterm delivery is one of the most common problems in childbearing and premature delivery is a more common cause of infant death. Premature infants are prone to many complications. These infants have problems due to inefficiency and development of body systems and need more attention and these infants need to be under special care. The aim of this study was to investigate the importance of preventing the death and disability of premature infants.Materials and method: This study was performed by searching databases of keywords of premature infant, population and fertility.Results: Births under ۳۷ weeks are called preterm and premature births. The older the gestational age is than ۳۴ weeks, the more likely it is for premature fatuous to survive, and the earlier a fatuous is born before ۲۹ weeks, the higher the chance of death and complications.Conclusion: It is very important to have a different view on the care of premature infants. It is also necessary to increase the quality of prenatal care and to identify pregnant mothers who are prone to preterm delivery. With serious attention to the implementation of care programs for premature infants, a change can be made in the care and treatment of premature infants.
