چکیده مقاله:

Two-dimensional nanomaterials (۲DNs) have been in the forefrontof cutting-edge interdisciplinary research fields, since exploringgraphene at ۲۰۰۴. They have shown great potential fora wide range of biomedical applications including drug delivery,virus interactions and tissue engineering. The synthesis methodsof ۲DNs can be classified in “top-down” s trategies including thephysical, mechanical and chemical exfoliation of ۳D layereds tructures and “bottom-up” approaches such as chemical vapordeposition and wet-chemis try protocols. Owing to their multivalentinteractions at biointerfaces, the biological behaviours andtherapeutic efficiency of ۲DNs is dominated by their functionality.Therefore, functionalization of ۲DNs is a crucial s tep to formulatethem in different biomedical applications. We have beenworking on this topic for a decade to explore different parametersaffecting multivalent interactions at these nanobiointerfaces anddeep unders tanding of the mechanism of these interactions. Weexplain, how a change in the functionality of ۲DNs can be manifested in the physicochemical properties of ۲DNs which in turnhas a huge effect on their biological behaviours and differentiationin different categories in terms of therapeutic effects, toxicity,inter- and intracellular localizations.
