چکیده مقاله:

Background: S tudies show that in cases where the length ofcervix is less than ۱۵ to ۲۰ mm, there is a possibility of pretermdelivery. The length of the cervix, between ۲۵ and ۳۰ mm isdiscussed and challenged, and in some cases causes prematurelabor and, in some cases, leads to term pregnancy. Uterocervicalangle may be effective in determining the prognosis ofpregnancy in these cases.Materials and Methods: In this small s tudy, which evaluatedprospective, mothers who referred for trans vaginal sonographicexaminations at ۱۶ to ۱۸ weeks, all of these mothers weresingle pregnancy. In these mothers, uterocervical angle wasalso measured and classified into values less than and greaterthan ۹۰ degrees. Then the prognosis of pregnancy and deliverytime of mothers were compared. Results: ۷۰ mothers had an angle of less than ۹۰ degrees. Fiftymothers had a uterocervical angle greater than ۹۰ degrees. Infact, mothers with angles greater than ۹۰ degrees had s traightand direct cervix (The cervix was not anterior or pos terior).Among ۵۰ mothers with an angle of more than ۹۰ degrees, ۷cases (۱۴%) had preterm delivery between ۳۴ and ۳۷ weeks, which was due to beginning of labor pains or rupture of membrane.Of the other ۷۰ mothers who had an angle of less than ۹۰degrees, none had preterm labor due to rupture of the amnioticsac or beginning of labor. Conclusion: The evaluation of the angle between the uterusand the cervix can be helpful in predicting the onset of pretermlabor in cases of intermediate Uterocervical angle.
