Background: Toxoplasmosis is a disease that is caused by Toxoplasmagondii, an intracellular obligatory parasite. T. gondiiis broaden universal, as a minimum ۳۰% of the world’s peopleis contaminated .Toxoplasmosis can cause critical situation inhigh-risk groups as pregnant mother, if occur during pregnancy.Contamination with T gondii before pregnancy cause small orwithout risk to the fetus but in mothers who contaminated up tothree months before beginning pregnancy.Materials and Methods: In our s tudy, we evaluated ۳۳۰ womenbetween ۱۸ to ۴۲ years in preconception consultation aboutseropositive toxoplasma IgG tes t. All of them were referred toone lab with unique method of measurement.Results: After tes ting from ۳۳۰ women ,۱۳۲ (۴۰%) cases wereseronegative for toxoplasmosis before pregnancy. The findingof IgG antibodies and lack of IgM antibodies shows a previousinfection. And ۱۹۸ (۶۰%), of cases were seropositive for IgGtoxoplasmosis.Conclusion: In our opinion health education and giving informationabout toxoplasmosis is necessary. Prevalence of maternalcontamination and pattern of diet and consumption ofcomplete cooked food should be explain to parents. Prenatalcounseling should include education regarding prevention oftoxoplasmosis. As a base, prevention is better and more usefulthan treatment.
