چکیده مقاله:

Background: Sleep is a complex process whose disorders canhave negative effects on people’s health and the outcome of assisted reproductive technologies. So, we assessed the relationship between shift work disorder (SWD), sleep disorder, andendometriosis in fertile and infertile employed women.Materials and Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectionals tudy, ۷۰۰ fertile and infertile women referred to Royan Ins titute,Arash Hospital, and Gynecological Office in Tehran wereselected by sampling available method. Data were collected byques tionnaires of SWD (۴ Ques tions), Pittsburgh Sleep QualityIndex (PSQI), and demographic. The level of significance wasconsidered ۰.۰۵. Also, the data were analyzed by SPSS version۲۲ (Inc. Chicago, IL, USA).Results: In this s tudy, ۷۰۰ women with a mean age of ۳۵.۲۰ ±۵.۷۰ years were assessed. Eleven percent of them had endometriosisand ۲۳.۴ were at high risk for SWD. There was a significantrelationship between SWD and sleep disorder (P<۰.۰۵),which means that women at higher risk for SWD had been inthe poor sleep group. Also, there was no significant differencebetween the scores of SWD in fertile and infertile women (withendometriosis, non-endometriosis, P=۰.۱۱۵). Furthermore, women with endometriosis had been in a level of poor sleepmore than women without endometriosis, but this differencewas not s tatis tically significant (P=۰.۲۱۹).Conclusion: The results of our s tudy showed that SWD canimpair the quality of sleep in women and seems to be effectivein causing endometriosis in women
