چکیده مقاله:

Background: The empowerment of patients with heart failure play a key role in the management and prevention of the disease. One way to improve this skill is the promotion of patients' self-efficacy, which can positively affect empowerment skills, lifestyle, and disease management. Objectives: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of education based on the collaborative care model on the self-efficacy of heart failure patients. Methods: This randomized clinical trial was performed on ۶۰ Iranian patients with heart failure. The patients were selected by using the convenience sampling method. Then, they were randomly assigned into two groups intervention and control. Data collection was done by using the cardiac self-efficacy Sullivan questionnaire. The intervention group underwent education based on the collaborative care model, and the control group received routine education for ۳ months. Patients in both groups completed the questionnaire before the intervention and after the intervention on the intervention group. Results: Both groups were matched in terms of demographic variables. Before the intervention, the intervention and control groups did not differ significantly regarding the mean score of self-efficacy (۲۲.۸±۱.۹ versus ۲۳.۶±۲.۴) (P=۰.۰۵۶). However, after the intervention, the mean self-efficacy score in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group (۳۹.۴±۲.۱ versus ۲۴.۲±۴.۶) (P<۰.۰۰۱).Conclusion: These findings suggested that the implementation of the collaborative care model in education could improve self-efficacy in patients with heart failure. Accordingly, it seems that the self-efficacy of these patients can be improved by resorting to appropriate intervention approaches.
