چکیده مقاله:
Cyanobacteria are a significant group of gram-negative photosynthetic bacteria which havethe ability to grow in a broad range of habitat such as lakes, oceans, soil, hot springs,deserts and so on. These photosynthetic organisms are known a potential source ofbioactive compounds that can be generated as byproducts during photosynthetic processwith antibacterial, anti-tumour, neuroprotective, and anti-cancer activities. So far,several cyanobacterial bioactive compounds with anti-leukemia activities have beenevaluated for treatment of leukemia which is one of the most common leading cause ofcancer death. However, no review study has been conducted about the anti-leukemiacyanometabolites and their therapeutic mechanisms. Therefore, this review discussesfive major striking anti-leukemia cyanometabolites and their therapeutic mechanisms insummarize. Ultimately, the traditional therapeutic procedure, chemotherapy, and itscommon challenges and issues have been investigated to declare the superiority ofnatural medicines over chemotherapy.
