چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. The syndrome is associated with reproductive and metabolic symptoms and in despite of its high prevalence (۱ in ۱۲ women), the exact cause of PCOS is still not exactly clear. However, PCOS may be related to genetics, environment and lifestyle. So, it seems that focusing on lifestyle changes, mainly dietary, physical activity and stress management, as non-invasive and front-line cure can improve PCOS-related symptoms.Method: This literature review was conducted in the MEDLINE (via PubMed) up to ۲۰۲۲. Eligibility criteria included studies on lifestyle strategies as first-line treatments to identify their association with PCOS and their mechanism of action in inhibition of the disease. Conclusion: Application of health promotion strategies like appropriate diet, regular exercise, and considering other lifestyle changes such as reducing stress, practicing good sleep, limiting or avoiding endocrine disruptors and using acupuncture play essential roles in improving and controlling PCOS by reducing insulin and cholesterol levels
