Nowadays, the effects of pollution from conventionalenergy resources in order to generate power has become a majorchallenge to reduce pollutants and advance toward the use ofalternative renewable sources such as wind and solar energy.Sustainable energy production can be reached with the idea ofcombining wind energy with solar energy, which can producesuitable energy during the day and cover the limitations of windturbines. This hybrid system also solves the problem of notgenerating solar energy at night through proper wind speed andsufficient energy generation. In this paper, in order to assessmentof wind and solar energy in a Station of Yazd City, first, fielddata including wind statistical characteristics are received andthese isolated data are replaced using Weibull function. Also,with two experimental methods of multivariate and Angstrom,the energy information of total solar radiation in Yazd city isestimated. Then, the design and modeling of a hybrid wind-solarsystem corresponding to environmental conditions is discussed.Considering the factors affecting the selection of turbines,Darrieus vertical axis wind turbines will perform best forenvironmental conditions. Also, the optimizations show that theuse of a hybrid wind-solar system in low wind speed, includingsolar panels and vertical axis wind turbines with J-type bladesand asymmetric airfoils can improve the low starting torque ofDarrieus vertical axis wind turbines and be helpful in achievingthe required power.
