چکیده مقاله:

It has always been challenging to assess the quality of translations of texts (like linguistic, research-based, and so on). As a result, this study used House's (۲۰۱۵) revised Translation Quality Assessment model to assess translation quality. two Persian translations of George Orwell’s Keep the Aspidistra Flying were studied by Julian House’s Translation Quality Assessment (۲۰۱۵). The focus was on comparing differences between the original text and the translated texts, namely, between the original text of Keep the Aspidistra Flying and its two Persian translations by Eghtedari and Hanifevand, in terms of covert errors and overt errors. Thirty-five examples from ۵۰ pages of the original book were chosen to achieve the goal. The following categories were used to categorize translation errors: not translated, a slight change in meaning, significant change in meaning, distortion of meaning, a breach in TL system, creative translation, and cultural filter. Both of these translations belonged to Overt translation based on House’s model, and the type of Covert translation in them was not comparable to the mismatches in the Overt category. Eghtedari's translation was more accurate and had higher quality than Hanifehvand's translation. The words or expressions that did not translate, had a slight or significant change, distortion in meaning. A breach in the TL system was lower than Hanifehvand’s translation. This could be the lack of information of the translator or some other reasons.
