A respiratory disease that can spread from one person to another, the COVID-۱۹ pandemichas influenced educational systems and pedagogical procedures all over the globe, and Iran is noexception. The result has been the cessation of face-to-face courses in schools and universities.Accordingly, the present study was conducted, as a qualitative survey, aiming to explore the useof cellphone educational applications by Iranian university students as well as to examine theirattitudes toward such applications as experienced in distance learning contexts during pandemic,along with the kind of mobile phone functions used more frequently by B. A. and M. A. Englishuniversity students. In doing so, a total of ۳۰ English university students were chosen to beinterviewed, and Peters’ taxonomy was selected as the framework for grouping their answers andseeing if they were fitting for language learning. The findings revealed that cellphones areimmensely practical, facilitate learning, and are beneficial to education. Meanwhile, it was shownthat the limitations of cellphones have caused ۶۰ percent of students to perceive mobile learningteachingas lacking the potential, i.e. it does not offer the expected opportunities
