Drawing can be a window to the child's inner world and emotional states. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the differences between age categories in the family drawing test (daf). The sample of this study included ۶۶ normal male students of the first and second year of elementary school, who were randomly selected from ۳ schools in Tehran. A family drawing test was executed from all ۶۶ people individually by a psychologist. The results obtained from the chi-square test, which is a test to check the significance in nominal data, were such differences that the two groups did not show significant differences in the components of rhythm, paper area, and emotional relationships. But in the change component, there was a significant difference between the two groups. These findings show that in the assessment of parenting, children's reaction to conflicts and the expression of positive and negative emotional relationships in both age categories can achieve significant abilities regardless of age category through the family drawing test. In relation to children's reaction to the anxiety source and expression of desires, more research is needed and it can be said that problem solving skills are effective in this component.
