چکیده مقاله:
The present study aims at investigating whether there is a significant relationship between Iranian EFL learners’ critical reading skills and their use of self-regulated reading strategy. To this end, the “Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ)” developed by Pintrich et al., (۱۹۹۱) along with a critical reading test were administered to ۱۱۵ undergraduate male and female participants’ studying at Islamic Azad University of Hamedan, Iran.Also a survey was given to the participants in order for the researcher to answer the fourth question, that is, to obtain better insight of the students’ opinion on self-regulated reading strategy instruction. The questionnaires and the critical reading test were administered after being piloted and after their reliability and validity showed that they could be used as valid and reliable research tools. The findings of the current study revealed that there was a significant relationship between EFL learners’ critical reading skills and their use of self-regulated reading strategy. Also the findings showed that the learners had positive attitude towards teaching self-regulated reading strategies and they believed that learning these strategies will improve their critical reading skills
