Investigation of microbial contamination of Mahabad Damreservoir in different seasons

Background and Aim : Investigation of microbial contamination of Mahabad Dam reservoir indifferent seasonsMethods : Mahabad Dam Lake was constructed to supply drinking water, irrigation and electricitygeneration on Mahabad River that located in west Azerbaijan, Mahabad.Results : In this research, bacterial pollutions of mahabad reservoir were investigated. In terms ofgeographical aspect of this reservoir, ۳ stations (near the dam, Koter branch and Bitas branch)determined and samples were taken monthly over all the year via Rottner from different depths ofthe reservoir.Conclusion : ial pollutions (Total Coliforms, Fecal Coliforms and Fecal Streptococci) weresurveyed after transferring the samples to laboratory. Results indicated that values of TotalColiforms, Fecal Coliforms and Fecal Streptococci were varied between ۲.۳۳ ± ۱.۲۰ and ۱۱۶۶.۶۷± ۳۳.۳۳, ۰.۰ and ۳۰.۳۳ ± ۶.۷۴ and ۰.۰ ± ۱۶.۶۷ ± ۶.۳۳ MPN/۱۰۰ ml respectively during over all theyear. These values were in the allowed range according to the drinking water and recreationstandards of Iran.
