چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : The most significant human pathogen, Staphylococcus aureus, has raisedconcerns due to its growing antibiotic resistance. This study's goal was to characterize theantibiotic resistance distribution among methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated fromclinical samples of patients in Tabriz hospitalsMethods : This cross-sectional study was conducted on ۲۴۲ patients hospitalized in differentdepartments like surgery, internal medicine and infectious disease in Tabriz hospitals. Theresistance pattern of isolates was determined using disc diffusion and D- test methods accordingto CLSI guidelines. The antibiotics used included erythromycin, linezolid, cefazolin, cefoxitin, clindamycin, and trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole. All isolates were screened for the presence offemA and mecA genes by PCR method with using special primers. Results : All methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates were confirmed by PCR methodusing femA and mecA genes. The results showed ۴۲, ۲۲, ۷ and ۱۹ methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus isolates were resistant for cefoxitin, cefazolin, linezolid and trimethoprimsulfamethoxazolerespectively. ۱۵ isolates had D-shaped clear zone around proximal oferythromycin disk and ۲۴ isolates had D-shaped zone around proximal of the erythromycin diskand small Colonies. Conclusion : It can pose a major risk to both human health and society when methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus isolates become resistant even to last-resort medicines like linezolid.
