چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Oral candidiasis considered as a major complication of mucus membraneinfection of immuno-compromised patients, such as, those undergoing kidney transplantation. Theaim of this study was to identify Candida species and evaluate drug susceptibility testing of isolatesin oral cavity of hospitalized patients with kidney transplantation. Methods : Two separate swabs were taken from oral cavity of ۴۰ patients before and aftertransplantation (step۱ and step ۲ respectively) , transferred to sterile falcon tubes and cultured onSabouraud’ Dextrose Agar medium (SDA) and ۲۱- plex PCR was used for identification of Yeasts. Anti fungal drug susceptibility testing(AFST) was performed against fluconazole anditraconazole according to CLSI micro dilution standard method (M۲۷, A۳/ S۴).Results : C. glabrata was the most prevalent species in step ۱ with (۶۵%) and step ۲ (۶۰%). C.albicans in step ۱ (۳۳%) and step ۲ (۳۸%) accounted to the second level ,and Rhodotorula wasranked last frequency (۲%). C. glabrata (n=۴) isolates from step ۱ were resistant to fluconazole, instep ۲, C. glabrata (n = ۲۰) were itraconazole sensitive ,whereas, C. albicans isolates werefluconazole resistant in both step ۱ and step ۲ (n=۷ and n = ۶ respectively ) ,on the other hand oneisolate was itraconazole resistant in the priviously mentioned step. Conclusion : Based on obtained findings, in kidney transplant patients C,glabrata represented asthe main causative agents of oral candidasis ,focusing on the importance of non-albicans Candidain oral cavity of patients . According to AFST results ,an increased number of resistant isolatesshed light on performing antifungal tests for achieving the best outcome of patients in order toprevent therapeutic failure.
