Evaluation of the effect of probiotics pichia kudriavzevii onNBT test of IL-۱۷ secretion in mice with Candida systemic infection

Background and Aim : Candidiasis is one of the most common opportunistic fungal infectionsin humans and animals. The disease is caused by a yeast fungus called Candida albicans. Candidaalbicans is a natural flora in humans and animals, and their growth and reproduction are usuallylimited by the immune system and other microorganisms.Methods : In this study, ۲۸ female Wistar rats (۶-۸ weeks) with a weight range (۱۸۰-۲۰۰) g weredivided into ۴ groups: group A: healthy rats as control, group B: rats infected with CandidaAlbicans with ID (ATCC ۱۰۲۳۱) and concentration (۲ × ۱۰۶ cfu/ml), group C: rats treated withPikia yeast with concentration (۱۰۷ cfu/ml), group D: Candida-infected and yeast-treated rats Atthe end of the ۱۵-day period, the animals were facilitated to measure blood factors: includinginterleukin-۱۷ and to evaluate the function of phagocytes in terms of respiratory explosion (NBTtest). Colonization of Candida albicans colonies in liver tissue and all tissues were isolated andhomogenized and cultured in SDA medium.Results : Evaluation of serum protein: Interleukin ۱۷ between experimental groups andcomparison with each other showed no significant change (P <۰.۰۵). but the function of oxidativerespiratory burst of neutrophils (NBT test) had a significant increase in the infected group treatedwith probiotics compared to the infected group (P <۰.۰۵). In the study of Candida albicans coloniesin the infected group and the infected group treated with probiotics, the lack of colony growth wascompared with the infected group.Conclusion : The results of the research indicate that Pikia kudriozoui probably inhibits Candidaalbicans by increasing the respiratory burst function of neutrophils, so the results of liver andkidney tissue culture in terms of evaluating Candida albicans confirm this possibility. Therefore,it is suggested to use probiotics as a therapeutic supplement and possibly strengthen the body'simmune system during candidal infections in order to prevent the disease process and control it.
