چکیده مقاله:
Background: Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) is one of the incretins, whichis an important amino-acid peptide hormone that is secreted from the gut and then binds toglucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptors (GIPRs) after a meal and plays a crucialrole in the secretion of insulin upon food stimulus and in the regulation of postprandial glucoselevel. It also exerts an effect on the synthesis and secretion of lipoprotein lipase, from adipocytes, important for lipid metabolism. The aim of our study was to do a case-control associationanalysis of rs۹۳۷۳۰۱ (SNP) in GIP with type ۲ diabetes in Iranian patients and healthy people.Materials and Methods: A total of ۲۷۷ subjects which includes ۱۸۳ (۱۰۱M/۹۴F) cases withtype ۲ diabetes and ۹۴(۴۵M/ ۴۹F) normoglycemic control subjects belonging to Yazd from Iranwere recruited to assess the frequency of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in GIP(rs۹۳۷۳۰۱) in a case-control manner. The SNP was genotyped by using tetra primeramplification refractory mutation system PCR (ARMS PCR). Association analysis was carriedout using the chi-square test. Results: No significant difference in the allele frequency and genotype distribution of rs۹۳۷۳۰۱in GIP were observed between cases and controls (P > ۰.۰۰۱).Conclusion: No statistically significant association was observed between SNP rs۹۳۷۳۰۱ andtype ۲ diabetes in our population.
