چکیده مقاله:
Backgrounds: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world. According to statisticspublished in recent years, twelve million and seven hundred thousand new cases of cancer havebeen identified in the world. Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second mostcommon cause of death among women. Crocin with high antioxidants prevents breast cancer bysuppressing free radicals and expressing apoptotic genes. Therefore, the aim of this study was toinvestigate the changes in caspase ۶ gene expression in breast cancer.Materials and Methods: After evaluating the toxicity of Crocin on cancer cells by MTT assay,changes in gene expression after RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis were investigated usingReal-time PCR.Results: The results of real-time PCR showed that the expression of Caspase ۶ gene due toCrocin treatment was significantly increased compared to GAPDH gene (p <۰.۰۵). The amountof fold change in the high dose was ۱.۴.Conclusion: The results showed that Crocin due to its antioxidant properties has a significanteffect on breast cancer cell mortality and increased expression of caspase ۶ gene due to itsantioxidant properties.
