Metaphor in the Electronic World: Lets have a share

Metaphors pervade the terminology and discourse of computer science and electronic world. As the use of metaphor can elevate the ordinary language to turn into an effective extraordinary language, when applied in a technical and scientific context such as computer also it can infuse the virtual electronic entities with a more tangible sense through drawing on the cognitive and psychological sides of the users‟ personality thus leading to a cognitive-psychological interplay between the user and the computer application. Though this phenomenon has been brought under study by many scholars from different viewpoints, seemingly not any study has been carried out on such phenomenon while taking into consideration the fact that the source language for the metaphor may not be necessarily the same as the language spoken by the user, seemingly not any study has been carried out on such phenomenon while taking into consideration the fact that the source language for the metaphor may not be necessarily the same as the language spoken by the user. This study, while reviewing the some of the most salient studies carried out on the metaphoric application in computer terminology and discourse, opens a new window to the study of this phenomenon in terms of transparency or opacity of metaphoric meaning while considering the user‟s command of the .language in use in the computer science
