چکیده مقاله:

When a patient is in a situation that is very difficult for him/her to endure due to severe suffering from a physical or mental illness, the question arises as to whether terminating his/her life is morally permissible. The answers to this question have led to various theories about euthanasia. Some scholars oppose euthanasia for moral and legal reasons, while others, rejecting the opponents’ arguments, consider it a procedure in line with moral values and believe that it should be legalized in all legal systems. The third group of authors, distinguishing between active and passive euthanasia, consider the former as “killing” and blameworthy, and the latter as “letting die” and acceptable. These different views have formed the basis of different legal systems, each of which has its roots in different intellectual foundations. This article examines and compares the positions of these two legal systems on different types of euthanasia.
