چکیده مقاله:
Voltage and reactive power control problem has emerged as a major concern regarding to a secure operation of power systems. Power systems are usually operating under very different conditions, especially with regard to the distribution and location of generation. Transferring electricity through a long distance transmission line may cause considerable amount of transmission losses as well as voltage drop particularly at load buses. In order to maintain the required voltage profiles throughout the transmission system reactive compensation equipment needed to be installed. These devices are such as mechanical switchable capacitors (MSCs), static VAr compensators (SVCs), .. etc. Consequently, the secure and economic control of reactive compensation equipment combined with generator reactive power outputs is an important consideration, particularly with regard to the reactive power market all over the world. Over the last two decades Voltage and reactive power control and optimisation have been researched extensively as a static snapshot problem, but relatively little research has addressed the time-frame aspects of the so-called V/VAr problem. In this paper the problem of V/VAr optimisation is investigated from an operational schedule and dispatch point of view. Some practical constraints such as the number of reactive control actions allowable within a time frame as well as the time interval required between actions performed are considered. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is presented and its performance is demonstrated throughout case studies
