چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death in many countries. Therefore, identification of risk factors for coronary heart disease is essential to carry out preventive measures. Smoking is an important independent risk factor for coronary heart disease in human beings. The aim of this review was to to obtain the relationship of smoking habit and the incidence of coronary heart disease.Method: In this paper, a review was conducted on the studies published between ۲۰۰۴-۲۰۱۸. The studies were searched out through scientific databases, including PubMed, Google scholar and Science Direct by the keywords smoking, adverse effects and coronary heart disease risk. Results: The review of ۱۵ studies revealed that in men who report habitual consumption of ۲۰ or more cigarettes per day the risk of coronary heart disease was about three times greater than in nonsmokers, former cigarette smokers, or pipe and cigar smokers. No relationship was shown between smoking habit and angina pectoris when this symptom was the sole manifestation of coronary heart disease. The association between heavy cigarette smoking and increased morbidity and mortality from coronary heart disease was unexplained, although it appeared to be relatively immediate. It is inferred that stopping cigarette smoking lessens the risk of coronary heart disease. Conclusions: Cigarette smoking, can increases coronary heart disease. It is crucial that patients with CHF stop smoking and avoid places polluted with cigarette smoke.
